When there was a knock at the door I couldn’t bring myself to move. “Linease,” Jordan’s voice floated through the house and I lifted my head slowly off the floor. My voice was raspy and the first time I tried to call no sound came out. “Linease! What happened?” Jordan had walked into the kitchen and rushed to my side. She pulled me to my feet and sat me down on a chair.  “What happened?” she asked again. “Where’s Jake?”
“K-Kevin took him. He came back. He knows.” Jordan looked shocked.
“You have to tell the police Linease. He has no right.” I burst into tears. Jordan pulled me into a hug.
“Oh God Jordan. He took my baby. What am I going to do?” Jordan pulled away a little.
“I’m calling the police right now.” She got up and walked over to the phone. I sat and listened to her in a daze. This couldn’t really be happening. I just hoped Kevin wouldn’t hurt him. Jake was my life; I wouldn’t be able to live without him.
In the background I heard Jordan thank the officer and hang up. She walked over to me and sat down. “They’re sending an officer over now,” she said. She picked up my hand and held it in two of her own. I nodded then stood up my mind made up. “I’m going to look for him,” I announced.
“Linease, you can’t. You don’t even know where to look,” protested Jordan.
“I don’t care. I have to do something, I just can’t sit here doing nothing.” I walked into my room and pulled on some clothes. I walked out again and grabbed my keys off the counter. “Are you coming?” I asked. Jordan sighed.
“Linease, just because I’m coming doesn’t mean that I agree with what you’re doing.” She got up and followed me through the house anyway. I was almost at the front door when I heard a noise. I stopped walking and listened,
“What is it?” asked Jordan.
“I thought I heard something, that’s all,” I said.
“Must be the police.” I walked up to the door and opened it. “Jake!” I cried. Kevin and Jake were sitting on the front step talking. Jake jumped up out of Kevin’s grip and ran towards me. I knelt down on one knee and pulled him into a hug. Kevin stood up and turned around. I glared at him. “What the hell-” I began but he cut me off.
“Linease, look. I'm sorry. I don’t know what came over me.” I stood up hoisting Jake onto my hip.
“And you think I’m just going to accept that? You kidnapped my son and beat me up!” I stared at him in disbelief. Did he really think I was just going to forgive him, just like that?
Kevin looked to Jordan then back to me clearly not wanting her to be here. But Jordan stood her ground and I didn’t send her away.
“Err…well you can understand. I mean, I didn’t expect to be a father.”
“Oh for God’s sake Kevin!” Jordan burst out.  I gave her a ‘don’t interfere’ look and turned back to Kevin. “Kevin, I don’t ever want to see you again. I don’t want you to ever see Jake again. I don’t want you to ever step foot in this street again!”
“C’mon Linease, this is a free country, I can walk where ever I like.”
“Not when you mess with this mother! You beat me up! You can’t possibly comprehend what that was like for me! God Kevin!” I ran a hand through my loose hair. I couldn’t believe it.
“I don’t know what it’s like do I? Fuck Linease you have no idea. You never knew that whenever my dad came home at night, pissed off his face, he would beat me up. I was constantly covered with bruises. I had no friends, and my mother was just as bad, spaced out on drugs all the time. I used to hit the wall to let my anger out because I knew if I even thought about hitting my dad back he very well might have killed me.”
“Well then why the hell would you do that to me!” I cried. It was unbelievable. He knew what it was like, the torment, not knowing when they were going to stop, and yet he continued. I handed Jake over to Jordan and turned on Kevin. “Get out Kevin! Get off my property!” Jordan stepped forward and placed a hand on my arm. “What?” I snapped. She nodded towards the driveway where two policemen were getting out of their car and walking up the driveway.  Kevin turned around and groaned. “Is every thing okay?” asked the first officer. Jordan stepped forward and pointed at Kevin. “That’s him,” she said.
“Are you Linease Murdoch?” he asked.
“No, that’s me,” I said. “He’s the one who beat me up, and he’s the one who kidnapped my son.”
“Well then…err...” he looked at Kevin.
“Kevin,” he said.
“Kevin, we’ll have to take to you down to the station.” Kevin groaned again and sat down on the step his head in his hands. “And you to Miss Murdoch, you’ll have to come with us too.” I let out my breath and nodded. I looked at Jordan. She gave me a hug and said “Don’t worry about Jake, I’ll look after him.”
“Thanks Jordan. You’re the best friend I’ve ever had.” She gave me another hug. I knelt down and put my hands on Jake’s shoulders. “Honey,” I said. “I have to go down to the station but I’ll be back soon okay? I’ll only be a couple of hours.” Jake nodded while sucking on his thumb. I brushed his hair out of his eyes. “Hey cheer up aye? There’s some ice cream in the freezer, do want some of that?” he nodded again. “Okay then, I’ll see you soon.” I gave him a hug and stood up. Jordan gave my arm a squeeze, and then I turned and walked down the driveway.
It was late afternoon by the time I got home. I walked in to find Jake asleep on the couch and Jordan watching television. “Hey Jordan,” I said.
“Hi,” she replied softly. “How did it go?” I sat down next to her.
“He admitted it after I told my side of the story, including the rape. He’s got a restraining order on him, and he’s been charged with assault and rape.” I sighed. “I feel like it’s finally over Jordan. It’s finally over.”
this is the final bit in my sotry, but i also think it's the worst, so my advice, only read the first 2 parts.

i really like this. I dont think it is anything less that great. It has such a realistic feel to it. It is not the worst of all three, they all seem to be great to me, and i'm a writer also. though i tend to stick to fiction...but yeah this is great! you really have talent
